Euro 2012 - We Only Went And Did Some PREDICTIONS

The Danish physicist Niels Bohr once said: "Prediction is very difficult, especially if it's about the future." After we had stopped LMAOing, we decided to pay no heed to his pithy comment, and put our money where our mouth is. £1 to be exact. So here is our first brace of Euro predictions brought to you by Adam Bushby - feel free to add yours in the comments bit as we attempt to do our bit for Dave's Big Society.

Poland v Greece

As opening European Championship games are traditionally cagey (read ‘boring’) affairs – the past five have averaged 2.2 goals – the smart money would be on backing a repeat this time around, with a low-scoring or goalless draw looking good value (think Sweden v France and England v Switzerland in ’92 and ’96 respectively). The Poles are unfancied for a reason, though are tight at the back (four successive clean sheets backs this up), while the Greeks famously like a good bus parking themselves (just five goals conceded in 10 qualifying games).
Prediction: 1-1

Russia v Czech Republic

Everyone loves a dark horse. Until, that is, everyone starts calling them a dark horse and then they are no longer a dark horse. While the Czechs and the Croats have been lumped with this tag in the past, it is surely the turn of the Russians in Euro 2012. Semi-finalists four years ago, before succumbing to winners Spain, the Russians should enjoy something relatively akin to home advantage during this tournament, and will be buoyed by a 3-0 schooling of Italy recently. While the Czech’s lack the sparkle their Pavel Nedved-led side of 2004 exhibited in spades, the Russians could take advantage with their incisive, attacking football fostered under Dutchman Dick Advocaat.
Prediction: 2-0
